The château du Marais

Rue du Marais
91530 Le Val-Saint-Germain

Latitude : 48.575686 / Longitude : 2.102002

Built between 1772 and 1779 by the architect Vincent Barré, The Château du Marais is one of the most beautiful French castles of the Louis XVI’s era.

Description

After crossing the gate, you will arrive in the Allée des Platanes, of which Chateaubriand said: “The (Castle of the) Marais didn’t lose its Allée des Platanes during the revolution” and of which the fabulist Florian wrote that by leaving this alley he was leaving a paradise. Then, on your right, you will see an ochre pink building –the oldest of this site- that was formerly a mill. It often shelters exhibitions.
