For example, walk the departmental hiking trail inaugurated last June and crisscross the Hurepoix. Composed of 5 loops from 6 to 47 km, it will guide you through the jewels of biodiversity, architecture and history of the territory: departmental forest of Roche Turpin (Bruyères le Châtel), water park (Ollainville) , castle of Courson (Courson-Monteloup), castle of the marsh (Val Saint-Germain) …

11 hiking loops to discover.

Ten other departmental loops arranged and marked out await you. Some will give you an overview of the 24 wetlands, forests and other natural areas that the Department protects and opens to the public under the Sensitive Natural Areas Act.

In total, thanks to its departmental plan of hiking routes and walks, the County Council now protects 2272 km of roads in 171 communes. Among them, six geological circuits will project you millions of years back. These courses in southern Essonne will allow you to observe sand, sandstone and limestone testifying to the marine environment that reigned in the Paris basin 30 million years ago. Their scientific value is invaluable and recognized by researchers around the world.
